Episode 12 - Bobb Watkins
The amazing thing about technology is that one can capture a moment in time (or at least as long as the medium holds out) and listen to it over and over again. The voices of those who were close to you are made static and yet, if you pay close attention, you hear different things every time you play it. In 2008, I was fortunate enough to record my father for a school project about folklore artists.
Dad was a well known figure in the community and one of his main passions was music. With a collection of thousands of records, tapes and cds, he created elaborate mixed cassette tapes for friends and the community. As a child, I remember watching dad spend hours in the "music room" crafting the perfect mixes and combinations of modern and oldies music.
If you love music and want to learn more about the art of the mixed tape, this is a must listen.
